Saturday Morning Rant

There’s a lot to be ranting about this particular Saturday Morning. But instead of wasting my time writing about the absolute worst president in our short history and picking on his supporters who put him in the position of ruining our country, I’ll just mention that, his cabinet is not only grossly incompetent for the positions they hold, but they are, far and away, the nastiest public servants we have had in my lifetime.

Ok, I’m done with politics today.

We are finally approaching summer, which, for my family, who are still living up north, is a glorious time of year. Here in Florida, it’s the same old same old, but with intense humidity and the ever-looming threat of tropical storms and hurricanes.

Summer has always been a time (for me) to enjoy new LPs and books. No longer succumbing to the rigors of college or law school, I was finally free to choose my own reading assignments while listening to the poets of my youth.

I still have summer playlists, but instead of listening to LPs on my stereo, I have all my music on my iPhone and listen through headphones and, more often, my hearing aids. Yes, I have reached that plateau and have the need for hearing devices.

The poets I listened to did not include Frost or Dryden but rather John and Paul and Bob (Dylan of course,)

My reading list was comprised of Bradbury, Arthur C, DuMaurier , and Asimov.

Now, I will include Yeats and other Irish Poets as recommended by my son Bryan,

Not only do both music and reading serve as enjoyable pastimes, but they also shut out the noise that bombards us every hour of every day.

Never before have so few read books and listened to the purveyors of hate and anti-reason, so the cure for this Age of UNREASON is to read, learn, and listen.

Please stop the insanity and begin a book.

Hang in there, Jimmy. Hopefully, things will change for the better. Enjoy your books and, of course, the music!
